ABOUT
Sue Spiers was born in Cyprus, her father was in the R.A.F. and consequently her family moved every three years to wherever he was posted. When he finished 25 years service the family settled in Hartley Wintney. Sue became an accountant gaining Associate membership in 1989 and Fellowship in 1995. In 2000 she started an MBA with the Open University to see if she had what it takes to complete a degree, having gone into a trainee position on completion of A levels. The MBA lead to a BA in Literature and joining the Open University Poetry Society.

Each year the OU Poets meet at a venue to talk poetry, and exchange ideas with a tutor.
Sue's work has appeared in poetry magazines, anthologies and on line. Her first collection is called Jiggle Sac which inspired artist and fellow poet Caro Reeves to create the caricature below.


ACTIVITY
Sue has been involved with the Romsey Canal project with artist Nicola Henshaw in 2016. Angela Hicken of Hampshire Cultural Trust with tutor and mentor Judy Waite involved Sue in the Turner and the Sun project 2017.




A cold January in 2018 at BBC Glasgow to film 3 15-2-1 competitions. Channel 4 plan to show the product 31st May, 3rd & 4th June 2019. Sue got to hug Sandi Toksvig.

Artfulscribe festival about Women in Science - commissioned poem abour Rosalind Franklin, 'The Franklin Trilogy' March 2025. Also performing, 3 other commissioned poets, several dance groups, two music groups and The Hampshire Laureate Damian Kelly-Basher.

Sue Spiers ' interview is on Victory Online . She read the title poem from her collection De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da. Sue has a BA in English Literature, won a Hedgehog Press pamphlet competition in 2024 and we had a great chat about what inspires her and why she thinks entering competitions is a great idea.
